The largest naturist club in Britain, at Brocken Hurst, more than 50 acres of woodland and meadows in north-west Kent, just outside London and close to the junction of the M25 and M20. It grew out of the North Kent Sun Club of 1948, moved here in the late 1950s and is a registered charity. Non-members can come for a day visit or stay from April to mid-October in a tent, caravan or motorhome on the camping field, or in a six-berth wooden chalet. There is a heated 18-metre pool under a glass roof, a sauna, tennis courts and games pitches, a children's play area, woodland paths and a pavilion with a bar and café. Inside the club you can be naked everywhere, but at some evening events you may be asked to dress during dinner or dancing. Social life is its distinguishing feature: from March to October there are events every weekend, including music festivals, a 5 km nude run and family weeks, and guests describe a warm welcome for couples, families and newcomers. Some single men complain of having felt watched, and the checks at the entrance (ID, wristband, a sticker over the phone camera) are strict. No pets.
