Naturism in New Zealand: laws and customs →
Nudity required

A naturist club in the Taranaki region, on New Zealand's North Island, on 2 hectares of family-run land along the Waiongana River, a two-minute walk from the lagoon and the ocean and 15 minutes from New Plymouth. Founded in the early 1970s on another site near Mount Egmont, it moved to its current home in 1992. It has a solar-heated swimming pool, a clubhouse with a kitchen, a lounge with a wood burner, sites for tents/caravans/campervans and a few club "baches" (cottages) and caravans for hire. The site is "off the grid", with no mains electricity except for solar panels brought by guests. The rules ask people to be naked when the weather permits and no clothing is allowed in the pool or showers. Animals are allowed if kept under control, but dogs may not enter the clubhouse, kitchen, barbecue area, pool or play area. The curious can visit up to three times with no commitment before deciding whether to join. Guests' opinions are very positive: the path to the beach is much appreciated, the place clean and welcoming, the atmosphere peaceful.
