Sunny Rest Lodge

A large, historic nudist resort (founded in 1945) on about 190 acres of partly wooded hills in the Pocono Mountains, Pennsylvania, a couple of hours from New York and Philadelphia. The heart of it is the pool area: a heated pool, an outdoor hot tub, a lukewarm "conversation pool" reserved for over-21s, a poolside bar, and a café and restaurant at weekends; around them are tennis, pickleball and basketball courts, beach volleyball with tournaments, on-site nature trails, a small spa with massages and a nightclub open on Fridays and Saturdays. Accommodation is camping (tent sites, RV sites with water, electricity and some with sewer hookups), hotel rooms scattered around the property or cabins with kitchens; there are many seasonal members and permanent residents with trailers. Nudity is encouraged everywhere and required in the pool and hot tub; swimsuits are not allowed, but you can undress at your own pace. Open from April/May to September/October; ID is required at the entrance and a background check is carried out. The atmosphere is sociable, with daily activities, very lively at weekends and quieter on weekdays; some complain of strict security and favouritism towards regulars, others of pushy single men or "lifestyle" couples, while the resort explicitly describes itself as a nudist resort and not a sex club. Sloping terrain and narrow internal roads: worth bearing in mind with large trailers.
