Naturism in the United States: laws and customs →
Clothing optional

Sky Farm is a cooperatively run American nudist club, open to members only, set in 36 acres of woodland at the foot of the Watchung Mountains (Basking Ridge, New Jersey). Founded in 1932, it is among the oldest naturist clubs in the United States still operating at the same site; it has about sixty members' cabins. The heart of social life is the large heated pool with hot tub and sauna (May to October), surrounded by a broad lawn and the clubhouse with kitchen, games room and library. The members' calendar is packed with events: themed dinners, potlucks, pétanque and volleyball tournaments, yoga, pool parties and a book club, even in winter. Nudity is required only in the pool and hot tub; elsewhere it is clothing optional. It is explicitly family-friendly, with a children's playground. Day visitors are not accepted: access is only through tours for prospective members or as a member's guest. Membership involves a trial period of at least one year, and the club tries to keep a balance between couples and singles and between men and women, so a man applying on his own may end up on a waiting list.
