Naturism in the United States: laws and customs →
Nudity required

A nudist club founded over 75 years ago and still run by its members, on 80 acres of oak, bay laurel and madrone woodland in the hills behind Castro Valley, in San Francisco's East Bay. It is not a resort: it is a members' club that welcomes paying visitors at weekends from April to October, while in winter and on weekdays only full members and, by reservation, AANR or INF cardholders are admitted. There is a heated pool, a hot tub, a bocce court, a multi-purpose court, a shared kitchen and the Saturday night buffet dinner; seven trails cross the property, which borders two regional parks (where, however, you must get dressed). You can stay in a tent, trailer or RV with water and electricity, with no sewer hookup. In the common areas and in the pool nudity is the rule, except in cold weather or for health reasons. Those who come alone, men or women, are also admitted. There is no mobile signal in the valley and photos are forbidden. The few accounts available speak of a close-knit, welcoming community, with several families with children.
