A historic naturist club in Maryland, founded in 1934 on 96 acres of woodland a few minutes from downtown Annapolis and less than an hour from Washington and Baltimore. It is open year-round: in summer the large outdoor pool with lawn, umbrellas and lifeguard is used, in winter the indoor pool inside Keyes Hall, and the outdoor hot tub stays open in every season. There is a sauna, tennis and pickleball courts, water volleyball, disc golf, woodland trails, a gym and an on-site café, plus a packed calendar of parties, karaoke, movies and live music. Accommodation is in rental cabins and trailers (two accept pets), tent and RV sites with water and electricity, or more basic sites near the clearing. Nudity is not optional: the rules require it when the weather permits, although children and teenagers may stay dressed outside the pool areas. All new visitors undergo a criminal background check and must be announced at least 24 hours in advance. Those coming alone must book by phone and are admitted only if the quota for their gender is not full; a single man who wants to become a member must be sponsored by a member couple. Several complaints stem precisely from visits refused at the gate, and recently some have complained about pressure from the new management for regular visitors to become members.
