A campsite in the hills of Cserszegtomaj, above Hévíz and a handful of kilometres from Lake Balaton, bought in 2020 by Waldemar and Irene, two German motorhome travellers who left their office jobs to run it. There are just over forty pitches split into two sections: a textile one, presented as family-oriented, and a textilfrei (clothes-free) one, with screened pitches and the best view on the site. Those who don't want to sleep in a tent or caravan will find apartments for two to five people, some of them also in the naturist part. It isn't a holiday village: a swimming pool, heated washrooms, washing machines, a barbecue area, a common room, a playground and free loan bikes. It's an unpretentious place where the owners' welcome is what counts, and more than one guest says they extended their stay beyond what they had planned. Recently, though, some have also mentioned poorly cleaned accommodation, old equipment and an overly intrusive owner. The location is the real selling point: the Hévíz thermal baths, the largest lake in Europe where you can bathe in thermal water, are a few minutes away, and Lake Balaton is within easy reach for a day trip. Pitches cost 20 euros a day for two people, with modest supplements for children and dogs.
