Naturism in Hungary: laws and customs →
Nudity required

The only naturist campsite on Lake Balaton, on the south-western shore at Balatonberény, run by the Balatontourist group and one of the oldest in Hungarian naturism. It occupies a green, tree-lined area overlooking a stretch of shore enclosed by reed beds: there is no sandy beach, and you enter the shallow water from a large circular wooden sun-deck pier connected to the shore by walkways. The whole area, beach included, is strictly naturist for adults; the beach is also open to day visitors with a ticket, and photography is prohibited. Accommodation is in pitches of various sizes (including comfort pitches with water and drainage), mobile homes, two apartment houses and motel rooms with shared bathrooms; two sanitary blocks with communal kitchens. On site there is a lakeside bar, restaurant, massages, sauna, mini golf, beach volleyball, ping-pong, boules, giant chess, a playground and a baby-and-mother room; in high season there is daily entertainment with themed weeks and "Camping Days". Cleanliness, the reception staff and an atmosphere suited to all ages are appreciated; the most recurrent criticisms concern noise (nearby railway, entertainment music, rowdy guests in some summer weeks), mosquitoes from the reed beds and the lack of an on-site shop (shops and the station are a few minutes' walk away). Dogs allowed on a lead in the campsite but not in the water or on the beach. Open from May to September.
