Clothing optional

A historic naturist club in Oregon, founded in 1951 and today one of the largest clothing-optional venues in the Pacific Northwest: 104 acres of conifer forest in the foothills of the Coast Range, less than 50 km from Portland. Nudity is required in the pool, sauna and hot tub and a matter of choice elsewhere, in an explicitly family-friendly setting with no age restrictions. The facilities are those of a member-run club: a solar-heated pool open from May to September, an indoor spa, a sauna available 24 hours a day, a clubhouse with pool table and ping-pong, a pickleball court, bocce, horseshoes, a 9-hole disc golf course and about 5 km of forest trails. Social life is a central part of the experience — SportsFest at the end of July, seasonal parties, potlucks and monthly gatherings — and anyone looking for big-resort anonymity probably won't find it here. Opinions are almost unanimously enthusiastic and focus on three points: the welcome from the volunteer members, the cleanliness of the facilities and the peace of the forest, with deer wandering between the sites. The only criticisms concern the access road, narrow and steep, which makes arriving hard work for anyone towing a trailer. You can stay in a tent or an RV (sites with full or partial hookups), or in a rental trailer available all year round; for non-members staying overnight after their first visit, sponsorship by an AANR member may be required. The first visit is by appointment only, during the day, and the club states that it runs a background check on first-time visitors; solo travellers are welcome on the same terms as everyone else.
