A country naturist club half an hour from Napier, on the east coast of the North Island: four and a half hectares of meadows and wooded hills called "Rapere", with the flat lower part taken up by the clubhouse, pool, sports areas and sites, and the upper part where members have their cabins and caravans with views across the valley to the Kaweka Range. There is an artificial pond with boats available, an outdoor hot tub, a barbecue under a vine-covered pergola, pickleball, pétanque and a children's play area. You can come for the day, pitch a tent or sleep in the old Norm's Lodge, the early-20th-century house that was the original clubhouse, or in the Bell's Bach cabin. It is a volunteer-run club, so the gate is locked and it is best to phone ahead: those who do say they were welcomed by members who showed them around, and all guests speak of friendliness and a peaceful place. Newcomers are allowed to get used to naturism gradually, but swimsuits are not worn in the pool and spa.

Do I have to get my gear off and stay nude all the time I am here? No, we would encourage you to get your gear off, but you will do this when you are ready to do so. Our pool and spa pool are all clothing free though.
