A small naturist retreat in the Fern Forest rainforest, about 7 miles from the entrance to Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park, on the Big Island. There are just three bamboo bungalows of about 9 square metres around a rainwater pool, with a hot tub, a wood-fired sauna, jet showers among the lava rocks and a shared outdoor kitchen; bathrooms are shared and the cabins are close together, so there are quiet hours. The property is off-grid, with solar panels and rainwater collection. Nudity is optional everywhere except in the pool, hot tub and sauna, where swimsuits are not allowed; families with children and couples are welcome, while solo travellers are accepted only after vetting by the hosts; all guests are checked against sex offender registries. Guests appreciate the peace and quiet, the helpfulness of the hosts and the convenience for visiting the volcano park. Some warn that at around 760 metres above sea level it is cool for being nude from October to May.
