A club naturist campground on 200 acres of woodland in north-western Rhode Island, near the Connecticut border, much of which is a nature preserve with a network of trails you can walk naked — this, more than the facilities, is the reason to go. Life centres on the spring-fed swimming pond, with a dock, a lawn and the club's wooden buildings facing the water; there is also a wood-fired sauna, a small camp store, bocce, horseshoes and a few events during the season, the only days with real crowds. You can stay on tent or RV sites, some of them seasonal, or in two cabins and a "penthouse" above the club. The tone is that of a self-managed community, with members who keep the place tidy and are known for putting first-time visitors at ease. Good to know: the facilities are basic (the store is spartan and shops are far away), the pond is natural and sometimes murky, the mosquitoes make themselves felt, and during the day you may find mostly single visitors.
