Private naturist camp in the eastern Bay of Plenty (New Zealand), 5 km from Matata and 20 minutes from Whakatane: about 0.8 hectares of lawn surrounded by native bush, with a stream and bush trails to walk naked (native birds: tui, kereru). Founded in 1966 as the Tauranga Sun Club and later renamed Bay of Plenty Sun Club, a member-run club, it passed to private owners and is now called Bay of Plenty Sun Camp: you can stay without becoming a member, but you need a card from NZNF, INF or another recognised naturist organisation. Affiliated to NZNF as a "Proprietary Membership". No day visits: overnight stays only, on powered or unpowered sites (also for single people, with a dedicated rate), in a cabin or in a caravan; children under 18 free with an adult, dogs allowed on a lead. Camp house with lounge, wood burner, full kitchen, TV, board games/darts and a small library; an amenities block with 2 toilets, 2 indoor and 2 outdoor showers. Solar-heated pool and a covered spa pool. Pétanque and a golf practice area. Covered barbecue area and an outdoor fire for the evenings. The few accounts available describe a small, quiet place with welcoming owners.
