The Arcadians of Greenglades are a family naturist club founded in 1950, with its own grounds of about four and a half acres of ancient woodland near Billericay, in Essex. The land belongs to the members, who look after it through volunteer work days: lawns for sunbathing among the trees, a pond, a heated outdoor pool of about 17 metres open from May to September, a sauna, a clubhouse with kitchen and a pavilion for parties. For games there are mini-tennis, badminton and pétanque courts, plus table tennis and billiards. The social calendar is busy all year round, from afternoon teas to barbecues. It is not a place to turn up at unannounced: you visit at a member's invitation or, if you hold a British Naturism card, by prior arrangement. Holders of that card can also pitch a tent in the small camping area; caravans and motorhomes are not allowed. The club welcomes families with children, couples and single adults.

Well, you are visiting a naturist club where the norm will be to be nude. Like most clubs we won't expect you to strip as soon as you walk through the gate though. If the weather is cold you cover up
