A family-run naturist resort on the south coast of Crete, on a headland above the Libyan Sea two kilometres from Chora Sfakion, with the White Mountains behind it. It is one of the few "licensed" naturist hotels in Greece: 85 rooms between the main building and Cycladic-style bungalows scattered around the garden, a 25-metre pool and the Filaki naturist beach a short walk away. The outdoor areas are naturist or clothing optional from sunrise to sunset (nudity compulsory at the pool and on the beach, clothing required indoors), a relaxed approach that also makes it suitable for those trying naturism for the first time; children are welcome and men travelling alone are accepted without special rules (stays are by room booking only, no day visitors). Open from mid-April to late October. As well as tennis, mini golf, archery and aqua aerobics, three evenings a week there is live music or a DJ on the terrace, with Cretan dance nights and quizzes; the resort organises naturist boat trips to the beaches of the area, hikes and diving, and the location is an excellent base for the wild south-west of Crete. The verdict of those who stay here is exceptionally positive and very widely shared: the staff, the buffet cuisine and the atmosphere are especially praised; many guests return several times.
