A whole island in the middle of a lake: Stora Ekenäset lies in Frisjön, south of Borås, and has belonged for over sixty years to the Västergötland naturist club, founded in 1968. It is wooded, with paths running all over it, a sandy beach suitable for the youngest children and two jetties to dive from. The big jetty is where people have breakfast, sunbathe and stop for a chat; there is also a large lawn where you can choose between sun and shade depending on the time of day. The club is small — around forty members, almost all from Borås and the surrounding area, plus a few Germans and Dutch — and is affiliated to the Swedish federation and therefore to the international one. People come with tents, caravans or motorhomes. One thing to know before planning a trip: the land is leased and the new owner is asking for a much higher rent, applied in stages. The club's future on the island is, by its own admission, uncertain.
