Quinta do Maral Naturist camping

A rural naturist campsite on ten hectares in Marvão, in the heart of the Serra de São Mamede Natural Park, in the Alentejo. It is run by Paula and Nuno, two former scouts from Sintra who came to naturism in 2005, and that shows: spacious, shady areas among oaks and dry-stone walls, internal trails, areas set aside for silence and meditation, and a seasonal programme of yoga, workshops, birdwatching and evenings around the fire. You can sleep in a tent, caravan or motorhome on the pitches, or in one of the four rental units: an equipped caravan in the shade of the oaks, a wooden camping pod with a view of Marvão, an apartment with kitchen and a rustic studio next to the pool. Pets are allowed only on the campsite, on a leash, and not in the rental units. The facilities are simple and well kept: a small pool, a snack bar, four toilets, hot showers, a washing machine and fresh bread every day except Sunday. Naturism is the rule throughout the property and is compulsory in the pool; under-16s are admitted when accompanied. The location is excellent for those who want to walk, cycle or ride and visit the fortified village of Marvão. Good to know: payment is in cash, by MB Way or bank transfer, never by card; it is worth booking, because on some weekends the park is reserved for gatherings; and guests, mostly very satisfied with the peace and quiet and the owners' welcome, also report some lapses in maintenance and a management with strict rules.
