Clothing optional

A small all-inclusive clothing-optional resort on the north-eastern tip of Isla Popa, in the Bocas del Toro archipelago, reachable only by boat in about half an hour from Bocas town. It presents itself as the only clothing-optional resort in Panama and is restricted to those over 18. Some twenty acres of lawn and trees between the forest and two white-sand beaches; accommodation is in nine detached cottages, five simpler rooms in the lodge, or the suites in the house on the headland. The infinity pool with swim-up bar and the private beach are the places where people go naked; at the clubhouse and the restaurant, at mealtimes, you put something on, and excursions are clothed. Three meals and drinks are included. Power comes from a generator, and wifi is available only at the clubhouse. Its strong points are the isolation, the nature (dolphins seen from the kayak, birds, jungle) and the welcome of owners Vince and Rosie; the criticisms, which are older, concern maintenance and prices.

Clothing optional at poolside and at our swim-up bar is the norm, but not mandatory. ... if guests prefer to wear a swimsuit, nobody will comment or raise an eyebrow. We do ask guests to throw on a cover-up in the clubhouse and in the restaurant at meal times. All currently offered tours are textile. Popa Paradise is an Adults Only (18+) resort.
