A sixty-five-hectare naturist camp within a protected area on the outskirts of Hanover, run by the BffL association (Bund fuer Familiensport und freie Lebensgestaltung), which has been active here for decades. The heart of the grounds is the Sonnensee, a seventeen-hectare lake with gently sloping beaches suitable for children, shores equipped with wooden sun loungers and water that is tested regularly. Guests with a tent, caravan or motorhome settle in three separate sections - Ententuempel, Sommerwiese and Seerosenteich - on flat meadows with electric hookups everywhere and water and drainage in part of the Ententuempel section; cars stay in the car parks and the interior of the camp is traffic-free. Alternatively, there are fully equipped caravans with awnings and wooden cabins for rent, bookable for two nights or more. The sanitary facilities run on solar-heated water, and in various spots across the grounds there are herb spirals from which members and guests may pick freely. The camp is first and foremost a sports club: a large field, beach volleyball courts, an athletics track, pétanque, ping-pong, a giant chessboard, plus a sauna, clubhouse (Vereinsheim) and restaurant. Entry requires a membership card of the association, or of the DFK or INF. Dogs are not allowed. The site has received environmental awards (Oekoprofit, TourCert, Viabono) and since 2011 has used only electricity from renewable sources.
