A six-hectare wooded club naturist ground at Couëron, ten minutes west of Nantes, run by the Club Gymnique de l'Ouest, one of the oldest naturist clubs in France (1950). It is not a commercial campsite: it is the grounds of an FFN-affiliated club, with a few pitches for tents, caravans or motorhomes (with or without electricity) and a few mobile homes, open to visitors passing through, including those coming alone, after a phone call, with a free first discovery day; an FFN or INF licence is mandatory and the club can issue one on site, including a day licence. In season there is a heated pool, a sauna and activities organised by volunteers, and pets are allowed on a leash; from September to June the club runs a weekly naturist evening at a swimming pool in Nantes. Those who have been there describe a bucolic and very peaceful setting, with a warm welcome from the regulars: suited to those looking for friendly, family-style club life rather than the facilities of a holiday village.
