Hotel Budamar Zipolite

A small 17-room hotel right on the beach at Zipolite, on the Oaxaca coast, in the middle of the bay and one block from the village. It occupies the same address as the old Posada Buena Vida and presents itself as a clothing-optional hotel, also open to families, gay guests and pets. The rooms, some with a sea-view balcony, are in white multi-storey buildings around a courtyard with a round mosaic pool; on the sand there is the restaurant and bar serving Mexican and Asian food, sun loungers, shaded hanging beds and a massage area, also used by outside visitors with a day pass. Several recent guests say that inside the hotel and on the beach loungers you can be nude anywhere and that many guests are, in a relaxed and tolerant atmosphere; criticisms concern rooms that are sometimes neglected (insects, noise between rooms, broken windows), slow restaurant service and a pool closed for works in spring. In 2026 some guests report new management committed to making improvements. The sea in front is open and has currents, and is watched by lifeguards.
