A tiny naturist campsite run by a Dutch club, the naturistenvereniging Vrij-Uit, active since 1985, on two hectares of woodland in Merselo, in the municipality of Venray in Limburg. It is a basic and deliberately off-grid place: electricity comes from solar panels, guests fire up the sauna and hot tub themselves with wood, and there is no pool and no rental accommodation, only pitches in the shade or in the sun. The Vrij-Inn clubhouse has a gas stove, a wood burner, a fridge, books and board games; outside there is a sunbathing lawn, an archery field, boules, darts, giant games, a fire pit that doubles as a barbecue and a covered bike shed. The club is affiliated with NFN Open & Bloot and holds the Prettig Bloot label, which commits it to following the Dutch federation's safety protocol and code of conduct. The area is excellent for walking and cycling, with the cycle junction network and the Maasduinen park, and nearby are the war museum, Overloon zoo and De Grote Peel National Park. Guests always mention the same things: near-total silence, a warm welcome from the members, well-kept facilities and the feeling of having the place to yourself. Anyone looking for amenities or entertainment should look elsewhere.
