Naturism in France: laws and customs →
Nudity required

A pioneering naturist centre on the Mediterranean, opened in 1956 on the beach at Cap d'Agde: a 4-star, 39-hectare campsite with direct access to the sea, inside the Village Naturiste. The centre's naturist charter requires full nudity on the beach and in the showers, and regards it as the norm everywhere else in the centre out of respect for those who are already naked, explicitly rejecting any erotic connotation of naturism; the rules provide for checks. To stay you need a naturist card (FFN, INF-FNI or FKK) and, separately, the access card for the Village Naturiste sold at the entrance by the municipality of Agde. The site welcomes families, groups of friends and solo travellers; minors must be accompanied by an adult. The range of accommodation is wide — from pitches for tents, caravans and motorhomes to mobile homes, chalets, wooden cabins and the luxury cottages of Pearl Village — and alongside the classic facilities of a large campsite (restaurants, entertainment, a watersports base, pétanque) there is Oltra-Fit, a 370 m² gym with free group classes and a wellness area with sauna, hammam and massages. Pets are allowed on a leash (not on the beach; category 1 and 2 dogs excluded). It is open from mid-April to mid-October. It is one of the best-known and busiest naturist facilities on the Mediterranean; among recent guests, complaints about the cleanliness of the toilet blocks, night-time noise and the many dogs keep coming up.

Naturism
Nudity required
On the beach and in the showers, "naturist attire" (full nudity) is required. Everywhere else in the Centre Naturiste Oltra, the fashionable attire is… "naturist attire", out of respect for people who are naked. [...] let us not forget that eroticism has nothing to do with naturism.
