Hostel-resort for LGBTQ+ travellers in the quiet El Tigrillo neighbourhood of Montañita, the surf town on the Ecuadorian coast: around twenty rooms with private bathroom and air conditioning (plus a few three-bed dorms) overlooking a courtyard with a large heated pool, bar and sun loungers. The pool area is clothing optional and is the heart of the place; the rest is a normal hostel. It is run by the same management as Casa Del Merman in St. Petersburg, Florida, and the brand presents itself as a clothing-optional resort for the LGBTQ+ community, with its doors open to everyone. The atmosphere is festive: pool parties, contests and events throughout the year, and lots going on during Carnival; about ten minutes' walk away are the beach, the bars of the town centre and the beach club under the same ownership. Those who have stayed speak well of the staff and the pool; some complain about uncomfortable beds and the lack of a proper kitchen. In quiet periods you may find yourself almost the only guest. You can head out for surfing, excursions (the Dos Mangas trail is nearby) and Spanish courses.
