Camping naturiste Le pas de Ceilhes

The club grounds of the Grifouls, affiliated with the Fédération Française de Naturisme since 1965, in an isolated valley of the Aveyron between 500 and 700 metres above sea level, in the Parc naturel régional des Grands Causses. The 87 very large pitches are spread over six mown meadows along a dirt track that follows the Vérenne stream; the spring supplies the drinking water and the unsupervised pool, where swimming is only allowed without a swimsuit, and there is a shaded paddling pool for little ones. It is a deliberately basic campsite: no electric hook-ups on the pitches (12 V power packs can be rented), solar and gas-heated showers in the three washroom blocks, satellite wifi only at reception and in the old stone farmhouse, which houses the common room with a fireplace, the library and table tennis. Social life is that of a club: group barbecues twice a week at the Presbytère, music evenings, sauna on Wednesdays and Sundays with a dip in the cold stream, a week of volunteer work in May and an explicit request to help with cleaning the washrooms. To stay you need an FFN or INF licence for the current year, which can also be obtained by joining the Grifouls on site. Trails lead from the grounds to the plateau, a ruin and the village of Ceilhes, partly walkable naked, and guided hikes are organised by experienced campers. As well as pitches, three rooms in the farmhouse, a studio and a wooden chalet are available to rent, all spartan and without linen. Guests agree on the silence, the dark night sky and the friendly, family atmosphere: it is a place for those seeking simplicity and nature, not comfort or entertainment, and those who need electricity, connectivity or nearby shops (supermarket 10 km away, direct road from Ceilhes only for 4x4s) will struggle.
