Camping naturiste La Plage des Templiers
Saint-Remèze, Ardèche, France
Naturism in France: laws and customs →
Nudity required

The only naturist campsite in the Gorges de l'Ardèche, at Saint-Remèze, inside the nature reserve: it can only be reached on foot along a short but steep path (no cars, motorhomes or caravans at the site) and luggage is brought down by winch. It looks out over about 800 metres of sandy beach along the Ardèche, among cliffs, caves and a holm oak wood; shaded pitches for tents only, plus bungalows and equipped lodge tents for rent. Nudity is compulsory throughout the campsite (you agree to this when signing the contract) and solo travellers are only welcomed with a valid naturist card. There is a restaurant, a bar serving pizzas, a small shop, pétanque, volleyball, table tennis, table football and children's games; in summer free yoga and meditation for guests, massages by appointment and guided excursions in the reserve. You can also arrive by canoe: paddling down the gorges with a night at the campsite is a classic. Pets (one per pitch) are accepted in low and mid season, not in high season. It is an isolated and peaceful place, ideal for switching off; some complain of neglected facilities and an inconsistent welcome.
