Camping naturiste La Genèse

Naturism in France: laws and customs →
Nudity required

A three-star naturist campsite in the heart of the Cévennes, in the Gard, with access to the banks of the Cèze, open from mid-April to late September and run by the Tohapi Naturist group. Complete nudity is the rule and it is compulsory in the pool and in the showers; a sarong is tolerated for beginners and teenagers, while swimsuits are banned. The centrepiece of the holiday is the water park, with a heated pool, paddling pool, slide and aquagym classes; there are also massages and beauty treatments. Entertainment is plentiful and designed for everyone: kids' club (4-12 years) and teens' club (13-17) in July and August, themed evenings, sports, craft and cultural activities, and walking excursions. You can stay on a pitch or in mobile homes, chalets, and lodge and safari tents; dogs and cats are allowed for a fee, but not in the pool and play areas. The campsite is a good base for exploring the Gard, the Cévennes and Languedoc-Roussillon. Solo travellers must be introduced by a regular guest before their booking is accepted: this is a condition the group applies at some of its campsites, and at La Genèse it was confirmed by a solo woman naturist who was turned away for lack of a sponsor; it is best to ask before booking. The access road is long, narrow and winding. Overall, it leaves guests satisfied; recurring criticisms include paid Wi-Fi and some signs of neglected maintenance.

Complete nudity is the rule. It is compulsory at the pool and in the showers. However, understanding and tolerance will be extended to newcomers as well as to young people (teenagers) so that they can become familiar with naturism; in that case the sarong will be the permitted garment.
