Naturist (policy unspecified)

A long-established Italian naturist campsite — it has existed since 1970 — on a hill in the heart of the Monte Sole Historic Park, in the Bolognese Apennines between Bologna and Florence. Across 24 hectares of wooded land there are 75 spacious pitches with views, plus a mobile home, wooden bungalows, caravans for rent and a double room in the main building; at the centre is the "piazza" with an à la carte bar-restaurant, the traditional Saturday pizza night with the wood-fired oven (for over 40 years), tastings of local wines and a pool to cool off in. The management pays close attention to sustainability and to local organic produce; there is a siesta from 12 to 2 pm and activities are proposed by the guests themselves and by volunteers. Dogs are allowed on pitches, on a lead, but not in the rental accommodation. Open from late April to late September. It is a much-loved place, for its silence, space, cleanliness and the owners' welcome; a useful recurring remark: in low season the approach to nudity is more flexible. Also an excellent base for Bologna and the Monte Sole remembrance trails.
