Aphrodite is neither a campsite nor a hotel, but a naturist residential district of Port-Leucate, on the Aude coast, created some fifty years ago and managed by the AFUL, the co-owners' association. It is made up of low-rise residences with studios and small apartments, rented out directly by the owners or through agencies, so there is no single reception to book with: you choose your accommodation and join in village life. Inside there are two swimming pools and three tennis courts reserved for owners and tenants, a small shopping centre with a bar, and a restaurant on the beach, which is wide, sandy and also naturist; nearby are other naturist villages of Leucate, including the Éden residence. Visitors describe it as a quiet, family-friendly place, much frequented by older people and by year-round residents, livened up in summer by the village association with concerts, evening events, yoga and activities for children and teenagers; the most frequent criticisms concern dated or not very clean apartments (it depends on the owner), noise and dogs, and an atmosphere less well looked after than it used to be. The wind can be strong.
